012 New Ordinary Gods and Radiant Black Printings
Plus Radiant Black Concept Art, Darkhawk, and More
Hey there! Love that color on you! Is that new? Such a weekend mood.
I was trying to get this edition out yesterday, but sadly, deadlines won. At the moment, it’s a little gnarly over here. We’ve got Radiant Black 8 at the printer, production on Radiant Black 9 and Radiant Black 10 both happening at the same time, we’re wrapping up The Trap, script pages on ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, our ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, are coming in fast, to say nothing of all the awesome pages and outlines for Inferno Girl Red, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓, Ordinary Gods, ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ and a few more I’m sure I’m forgetting.
Which is your weekly reminder to subscribe — or to tell a friend to subscribe — to stay up to date on what’s coming. Plus, we’ll be doing some more exclusive drops through this here very newsletter, soon.
Also, have a question? Looking for leads on where to get the good stuff? An idea for something we could cover here? Hit us up in the comments!
Ordinary Gods Goes Back to Print
On Tuesday, Image announced that both Ordinary Gods 1 and Ordinary Gods 2 had sold out at Diamond and we’re going back to print, with new covers by Felipe and Igor Monti.
You can preorder your copy through your local shop, or at blackmarket.la/ordinarygods.
Radiant Black 7 and the Fab Four
And, not to be outdone, it looks like Radiant Black 7 has also sold out. We’ll be going back to print on this one, too, with a new piece from one of my favorite artists, the totally radical Mateus Santolouco!
He knows a thing or two about drawing a killer four shot.
Radiant Black 8 FOC
So I know last week I said that Radiant Black 8 had its Final Order Cutoff (FOC) on 8/23, but it turns out I was wrong. Dead wrong. FOC is actually on 8/30. So, that’s in two days. And as an apology for this egregious error… here’s last week’s preview as well as a few pages from a little further in…
Don’t forget to tell your shop you’d like a copy. Or, you can head to Radiant.Black right now and you’ll find all your ordering options there!
Radiant Black Mood Paintings
One last extra Radiant Black tease for you. Presented without context… a few new studies by Marcelo…
Darkhawk
I meant to bring this up in last week’s newsletter, but I completely blanked. This week saw the launch of a Non-Black Market title, though something that’s equally close to my heart.
I’ve been doing quite a bit of press for the series, but I think these tweets probably sum things up quite well:
This has been a really special project for me. If you’re into Marvel superheroes — or just, different types of superheroes — give this one a shot. You can find a little more information on the book here, and the first of our monthly conversations with different members of the Multiple Sclerosis community, here.
Also, we’ve got this ridiculously awesome cover for issue 4, courtesy of Juanan Ramirez and Jesus Aburtov.
Also, I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve officially written Spider-Man? Neat.
Odds and Ends
With Radiant Black volume 1 hitting last week, we’ve been starting to see some fun new reviews. We thought this one from CBR was particularly awesome.

Last night, we recorded a new Radiant Radio with Meghan Camarena, all about issue 7. Which you can watch here!

Finally, if you happen to be in Los Angeles today (8/28), I’m going to be signing at Things From Another World at the Universal Studios City Walk from 3-5PM. You’ll have an option for a normal signature… or something a little more… radiant.
Weekend Stories
This weekend, I’ve got a few fun things in the queue.
The Criterion Channel has a really great Neo-Noir lineup right now, spanning from 1970 to 2005. I’ve seen a good number of these I’ve seen, but there are plenty I haven’t. I’m not sure how much longer the collection is going to be on their app, but I’m going to try to get through as many as I can over the next few weeks.
Regardless, since Film Struck shut down a few years ago, the Criterion app has been my go to source for, you know, actually watching movies.
A few weeks back, I got super lucky and managed to snag a PS5 (at retail value). It just showed up yesterday and I cannot wait to hang with Miles in ray traced 4K HDR glory.
Can’t. Wait.
Lemme know what you’re watching! Reading! What Miles suits I need to unlock!
That’s going to do it for me! Hope to see some of you at the signing today! And, as always—
Stay Radiant!
Kyle
Los Angeles, CA
already placed an order for radiant black #10 special cover, looking forward to it
Also loving the Neo-Noir collection on Criterion. Going to try my best to get through all of them I haven’t seen.
