Hey everyone! Happy post-4th of July!
I spent last week recovering from what will hopefully be my last knee surgery for a long time and while there’s still quite a bit of strength I need to regain, the early reports are overwhelmingly positive. Like, “I haven’t been able to move like this in years” positive. So to celebrate, we threw together a little last minute get together at my place and spent the day outside grilling, drinking, talking movies and most importantly, laughing. It’s one of the best summer days I’ve had in many years.
But it also means I’m late on today’s newsletter!
We’ve got a ton going on over at Black Market Narrative and between NO/ONE #4 and WHO IS NO/ONE episode 4 today, Deep Cuts #3 next week, Radiant Black #25 on July 19 and Dead Lucky #7 and Rogue Sun #14 both on July 26, July is jam packed. Oh, and then there’s that crazy little thing called San Diego Comic Con and all the insanity we’re planning for it.
Actually, that’s a perfect way to kick off today’s newsletter!
If you’re at SDCC on Friday, July 21 at 2:30PM, you’re going to want to make sure you’re in room 5AB. Like, seriously. If you like The Massive-Verse and any or all of the weird, outside-the-box things we’ve done, this is going to be the panel to be at. We’ll have some special guests, some surprise announcements and considering this panel is also on the heels of Radiant Black #25, I have a feeling we’ll have a lot to talk about.
Panel guests include myself, Brian Buccellato, Melissa Flores and Meghan Camarena, moderated by Black Market Narrative, The Invincible Podcast and Circle Guy News’ own Ryan Sidoti!
And then afterwards, we’re all heading down to the Image booth for a free signing where everyone will get a copy of our epic Massive-Verse 2023 poster by Eduardo Ferigato and Igor Monti.
This is going to be a big show for us and I can’t wait to start spilling all the secrets. July 21!

NO/ONE #4 - 07/05/23
Monday, Gizmodo was kind enough to run an early preview of today’s episode of WHO IS NO/ONE, featuring a clip from the Ben Kern and Chuck Tate sit down interview, brought to life by the amazing Todd Stashwick (Star Trek: Picard) and Walter Jones (Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers).
You can head to the link above to hear what Todd and Walter had to say about the experience.
And of course, along with episode 4 comes issue 4 of NO/ONE (which, you should actually read before you listen to the episode). Here’s a look at Ben and Chuck from today’s issue. Killer art by Geraldo Borges and Mark Englert, with equally sick lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou:
Oh, that Alanna Paige. Taking shots at her daughter on live TV? Writing op-ed pieces about her? Oof. And what is this article she’s written about Julia? Well, we’ve actually got that for you right here. Take a look for yourself—
NO/ONE #4 and WHO IS NO/ONE episode 4 are both out right now! For more info and links to buy, you can head to our site right here.

Deep Cuts #3 - 07/12/23
Next week, one of my favorite stories that I’ve ever been a part of hits the stands. Joe Clark and I have been working on Deep Cuts since 2019 and this issue was one of Joe’s earliest ideas. I hope he doesn’t mind me saying, there’s a lot of his father in this one. It’s a beautiful story about growing up and trying to connect with our parents. I hope you’ll grab yourself a copy. I could not be more proud of this book.
Here’s a look at the first few pages, with artwork by Diego Greco and Igor Monti. Lettering also by Hassan.
League of Comic Geeks AMA
One more thing before I leave you this week— the fine folks over at League of Comic Geeks have been kind enough to host me for an AMA! And it’s today! As soon as I hit send on this newsletter I’m going to hop over and start answering questions— I took a peek earlier and there’s already a solid 20 and they’re all rather good.
If you have a few minutes today, head on over! I’ll pop in throughout the day as meetings and deadlines allow.
Okay, that’s going to do it for me today! Hope everyone’s doing as well as can be and I’ll see some of you soon at SDCC!
Stay Radiant!
