045 NO/ONE New Issue and Podcast Today!
Rogue Sun 12, an updated Black Market shop and ALERT: NO/ONE foil drops!
Hey everyone! Back with a new newsletter this week, timed for NO/ONE issue 2! Which is out today!
This was a really fun one to put together. As angles on the case begin to take shape and readers find their footing after issue one, issue 2 is a more detailed look at Ben Kern and how his life is changing in the aftermath of his son’s murder (and his other son’s incarceration and outing as the original Richard Roe killer).
And with issue 2 comes episode 2 of our companion podcast, WHO IS NO/ONE, starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Patton Oswalt!
This episode we’re also joined by a special guest who’s voicing Ben Kern. We’re holding onto his identity for a minute but in the meantime, give the episode a listen— if you think you know who it might be, drop a comment below or on social.
If anyone gets it right, we’ve got something special for you!
Oh and don’t forget to take a look at the show notes! It looks like The Ledger has put up Julia’s piece about Ben’s shooting and Michael’s murder.
We’ve also got our second printing for NO/ONE #1 on stands today. Although, possibly not for much longer— I’m hearing that it’s already sold out at the distributor level. If you see one at your shop definitely snag a copy! How good is this cover?!
Rogue Sun #12
Issue 12 is out today and both wraps up Year One for Rogue Sun while also kicking off a wild new story direction. Don’t let yourself be spoiled on this one. You’re going to want to see what Dylan’s done, for yourselves.
As Ryan put it, “Relationships will change, mysteries are revealed and not everyone is going to make it out ALIVE. Enjoy and please come back for Rogue Sun #13!”
And yes, this directly affects the status quo for Supermassive 2023.
Deep Cuts #1 - 04/26/23
Veering away from the Massive-Verse for a moment, next week sees Deep Cuts #1 hit stands. I’ve spoken a bit about this one in the past but this series has been a long time in the making— I’m personally very excited to finally show everyone what we’ve been building.
Joe Clark and I are co-writing all six (double sized) issues and will be joined by Chris Brunner and Rico Renzi on covers, along with a host of killer artists on interiors as we take readers across jazz and American music for a sixty (!) year odyssey.
First up is Danilo Beyruth and Igor Monti! And today… we’re showing off a few more pages of art to whet your appetite.
And as an added bonus here’s all six covers by Chris and Rico, with final trade dress by Michael Busuttil!
New on the Black Market
And speaking of bonuses, I’ve got some fun news about our Black Market shop today. If you’ve popped over there in the last few days, you may have noticed that we’ve got quite a few new comics listed.
Along with our BMN variants that we’ll continue to roll out, we’re also adding other new (and old) issues from across the Massive-Verse to the storefront— including signed copies! These are predominantly from my personal comps so it’s first come first serve and when they’re gone there’s no guarantee they’ll be back. Here’s a few that are available right now:
Head over now to see what’s available! Happy hunting!
ALERT: NO/ONE Foils
Okay, it’s that time! Our new NO/ONE foils are now available! We’ve made 175 copies of each, sans comps.
First up— our Matteo Scalera foil for the just-sold-out NO/ONE #1 second printing!
And we also have our Black Market Narrative Tom Reilly foil for NO/ONE #2!
Okay, that’s going to do it for me today! Next week— we talk about jazz.
My thought was also Thomas Haden Church, but there were a couple moments that made me veer towards Lance Henriksen.
I agree with Jeff, I’m thinking it’s Thomas Hayden Church
