040 NO/ONE Kicks Off
Viral Campaign Kicks Off, Early Preview Pages, Plus Limited Variant Covers Revealed
Hey there! Happy Friday!
Wanted to take a minute today to talk a bit more about NO/ONE, in advance of FOC on Monday.
This is a really special book for me. Beyond all of the crazy narrative swings we’re taking— more on those in a second— this series’ earliest origins date back to a Gotham book that Tim Sale and I were going to do. While the story is markedly different, there’s still a little of Tim’s DNA— namely, his narrative boldness.
We’ve been describing the book as a ten issue true-crime superhero experience, because the series not only takes place in real time over the course of ten months but it also features additional storytelling across in-universe websites, social media, and even video drops. Like this:
And if you missed it earlier this week we launched a trailer, too:
Oh, and this:
This series is BATMAN meets ANONYMOUS. A gritty noir superhero series perfect for the true crime junkie set in the world outside your window, centered on a digital hacktivist turned vigilante who incites a dangerous accountability killing movement in Pittsburgh. Brian Buccellato, Geraldo Borges and I all met during our time in the Bat office— Geraldo and I first worked together on Nightwing— and it was our shared love of Batman, crime fiction, and both political and cinematic thrillers that drew all of us to work together then, and to reunite now. We have a great team working with us across so many different mediums, including former Chicago Tribune and CNN crime reporter, Peter Nickeas, as our creative consultant.
In addition to the monthly comic, the story will also continue each month through a free in-universe podcast starring Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That) and Patton Oswalt (Marvel’s MODOK) as Pittsburgh Ledger reporters Julia Paige and Teddy Barstow. The podcast will expand on events from the book, sometimes even bringing scenes to life, and will have strong narrative and immersive connections each episode.
From Brian, Geraldo, myself and our whole team, we hope you’ll join us on this very outside the box ride!
Here’s a a sneak peek of issue 1!
Monday is your last chance to pre-order the book with your local comic store. If you don’t have a local store, don’t worry— you can both subscribe to the podcast and pre-order issue 1 right here:
