034 Announcing: Massive-Verse NYCC Exclusives
Radiant Black 18 Infinite Edition and Rogue Sun 7 Glow in the Dark, plus Livestreams!
Yesterday saw the release of an issue that I could not be more proud of— Radiant Black #18. Huge shoutout to Laurence Holmes, who co-wrote with me, as well as the truly brilliant Stefano Simeone who both illustrated and colored this one and Becca Carey, the best letterer working in comics.
For those who haven’t seen the issue yet, it’s a wild one— in the spirit of Wendell’s time-perception powers, we decided that this would be another fun opportunity to push the reading experience.
What this meant was, designing the entire issue as four stories from four different eras of Wendell’s life, each separated by 18 years, told (mostly) across double page spreads.
Here, let me show you!
Cool, right? It was a blast—and huge challenge—to structure, as it was important that the story work no matter which way you read it— as double page spreads or…
…as something else.
Radiant Black #18 - INFINITE EDITION
Albert Einstein described his theory of relativity in relation to a black hole as a curving of space-time. But that was 1907 and today in 2020, Wendell George will learn that for himself as Past, Present and Future collide.
And what better way to explore timelines…than in a format designed to showcase just that?
Designed as two single images (front and back) on one long accordion fold, hand assembled to form a single loop of continuous paper that allows the time streams of Wendell’s life to pass infinitely, Radiant Black #18 INFINITE EDITION is the ultimate way to read Wendell’s story. It’s also far and away the most limited way to do so, too.
We’re making 250 copies of the Infinite Edition (sans comps), timed for NYCC. But don’t worry if you’re not hitting the show— we’re going to put copies up for presale on Saturday, September 24.
The Infinite Edition will retail for $50 and Saturday’s drop will be in conjunction with our convention partners at Comic Sketch Art. We’ll have signature and CGC options, too, for those who are interested.
What time on Saturday? Well, that’s the catch. Our multiversal carrier is smuggling these across some pretty treacherous, glitchy terrain— there’s only one way to get notified for when these go live—
But don’t worry— Radiant Black #18 INFINITE EDITION isn’t the only reason to make sure you’re subscribed to the Black Market News. In fact, it’s not the only awesome exclusive the our multiversal carrier is bringing…
Rogue Sun #7 - GLOW IN THE DARK EDITION
Rogue Sun #7, in stores on October 5, is a truly epic tour de force from Ryan Parrott, Nick Cotton, Ze Carlo, Raul Angulo and Becca Carey.
It’s the start of a new chapter and the power of Rogue Sun is in your hands. A new villain has arrived and the lives of innocents are at risk. What kind of hero will you become? The choice is yours.
For those who haven’t seen the news, this issue is a very special branching narrative in the spirit of something like a Choose Your Own Adventure— and folks? They knocked it out of the park. It’s one of my favorite comics I’ve read in a very long time, with the narrative experience being incredibly additive to where Dylan is at in his life.
So, to take advantage of the unique narrative experience (as well as some of the crazy mythology revelations that Ryan and company have in this one), we’re also doing a special NYCC edition of Rogue Sun #7…featuring a stunning new glow-in-the-dark cover by Abel.
This edition will go for $30 each and, alongside Radiant Black #18 INFINITE EDITION, we’ll also be putting copies up for presale with Comic Sketch Art on Saturday.
Black Market Narrative Livestreams
One last thing that I want to mention this morning— I’m going to try something a little different this week and host my first livestream tonight on the Black Market Narrative YouTube.
I’ll show off more of the Infinite Edition, take some questions and talk about upcoming releases. If you’re free this evening at 5pm PST please do pop by! Especially with the amount of cool surprises we’re building for next year, this could be something we do more of on a regular basis.
Okay, that’s it for today!
Hope to see you tonight!

Extremely disappointed that anything from BMN shop is only shipped within the USA. I would very much like an explanation or a change since fans of this universe don't only reside in the USA. Why have the Retro covers no longer exclusive to Stadium Comics, this is shite. Being denied access to these exclusives is truly heartbreaking and considering saying goodbye to all Radiants. This is not my first complaint about this and still has not been addressed nor acknowledged.
That’s awesome!
